Say Mama

This morning something very, very big happened. When I went to get my daughter from her crib, she was already awake and standing up, and when she saw me, she pointed and said “Mama.”

She said Mama.

She said Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She pointed at me and said Mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, she’s nearly a year and a half, and she’s been saying “Dada” for at least 6 months (it was her second word, after “Hi.”) Her third word was bubble, she can say ball, and a modified version of purple, turtle and even banana. She’ll point to a light and say “La” and Elmo and say “Babo,” and anytime she sees a dog, cat or bird, it’s “BA!” She has said the syllables mama before, but she was usually pointing to her pacifier or just singing to herself. So, this is a very big deal.

In honor of this, here’s a video from 6 months ago when she started saying Dada.
